FROM THE PRESIDENTMarylee 453-0603

March, in like a lion and out like a lamb, isn't that what they say?  Anyway, if your child is anything like mine he/she is itching to get out and play.  We will continue to go out everyday that we can so dress your child accordingly. We have had an extraordinarily large number of indoor play days and we need to be getting out to run.

A lottery was not needed for registration for the 2003-04 school year. Every returning family who returned their registration forms by Feb. 14th received their first choice placement.

The January meeting was not very well attended. Please remember, it is your responsibility to attend the March Business meeting. The success of NCP depends on the cooperative aspect of the program being supported by all the families. Remember, if you are a returning family, please call me for a job for next year.  You will not automatically get the same job as this year, so if you want the same job please call ASAP.

FROM THE EDUCATONAL DIRECTOR –Shirley Glines 738-9512

]                  Registration Update – since fewer than 15 children enrolled in the AM 4’s class for the 2003-2004 school year, a lottery was not necessary.  Registration opened to the public on February 15th.  If you are a returning family and have not registered your child, please do so immediately.

]                  The annual business meeting is Tuesday March 18th.  As stated in the handbook, each family should be represented at this meeting.  The Board of Directors for the next school year will be elected; the Budget will be presented and voted on; the Board will present a vote on a Policy change limiting the number of children in the 4’s classes to 15 per class.  This will accommodate the licensing requirement of a cubby for each child.  The business portion will be followed by a review of the curriculum for those who are interested.

]                  Field Trip information:  The teachers will plan placement of the children in the cars for the trips.  A sign-up sheet for volunteer drivers will be placed on the bulletin board.  Car seats should be dropped off at school when you drop off your child.

]                  Picture Days:  Lifetouch will be doing our photographs in March.  Feel free to dress your child up those days - we will plan “neat activities”  or you can send in a change of clothes. We will need one picture helper on picture day in each class.  Watch the bulletin board for a sign-up sheet for this. Questions –Utta Plass-Jungbluth (Lily 3’s)

]                  Please refill the water pitchers after snack.

]                  Thanks to everyone for keeping the kitchen door closed following kitchen visits by the squirrel/s.

FROM THE 4’s- Shirley Glines 738-9512

March is going to be a busy month.  We will focus on the food pyramid to guide us to eat right for good health.  This will lead the 4’s to talk about skin care and exercise.

The 4’s parents will notice me spending more time with each child individually in order to do evaluating of specific skills.  Kindergarten registration will require you to schedule a Child Find Evaluation for your child.  We do not provide this service so you will need to schedule it at your child’s Kindergarten school.  Following registration, you may hear your child expressing fears about leaving Mrs. Glines.  Let them know this is not happening immediately.  These comments are normal.  Visit the outside play area of your Kindergarten school often.  This will help your child feel more comfortable in September at their new school.  Call me with questions regarding your child.

FROM THE 3’s- Karen Peterson 322-5340

March will bring us to my favorite subject, food. This will be our food month. We will talk about the food pyramid and take a field trip to Pathmark on March 20th.  We will have group and individual pictures taken on March 18th.  There will be “neat” activities on that day, so children can dress up as much as they want.

Late in the month we will have a visit from Scott Vogel of the Delaware SPCA.

As always call me with questions or concerns. See you at the meeting on the 18th. The 3’s were well represented at the January meeting-keep up the great work!

Human-i-Tees Fund-Raiser Information Michelle Pierce 610-869-9616

Our most recent fundraiser, Human-i-Tees, began Feb. 13th and 14th. Human-i-Tees offers a large selection of environmentally conscience T-shirts and other products. Our goal is for each family to sell a minimum of 5 T-shirts or other textile items. We get the most profit from T-shirts  ($5.00) or textile product like a beach towel. Please keep in mind the orders are due: Thurs. & Fri. March 13th & 14th. Also, please remember to completely fill out the order form, place the form/s with your single check written out to NCP in the large envelope you received. NCP will receive the orders, which come sorted and bagged, by April 4th. Look for upcoming information from the Decampli Family about a Spring Fun Night at Friendly’s.
