FROM THE PRESIDENT- Marylee Dichiaro 453-0603
I would like to thank
everyone for doing such a fantastic job at completing the jobs that were
selected in the beginning of the year. If you still do not have a job please
call me ASAP. Remember this is a coop preschool and we need everyone's help to
have the school run smoothly. My home number is 453-0603. Also remember that tuition
is due in by the 1st of each month. If you do not have your tuition in by the
7th of each month you will be charged a late fee. Our next meeting will be
on Tuesday, January 21st. Please plan on attending. We have a lot to
cover and participation is needed! Let’s start the year off right! Babysitting
is available. If you have questions call me.
FROM THE EDUCATONAL DIRECTOR –Shirley Glines 738-9512 Snow days will be announced on WDEL (1150 AM) and WSTW (93.7 FM) radio stations. A decision about canceling school will be make as early as possible. A phone tree message will be sent only if NCP is doing something different than the Christina School District. Sorry that was a problem in Dec. when public schools closed and we opened. Please keep your most recent class list by the telephone so you can call the next person on the list if you receive a message about school.
We will go out in the snow, so dress your child accordingly.
The church installed soap dispensers on the wall in the bathroom. Please continue to use the bottles provided by the preschool.
I cannot express enough thanks to Jeri and Chris Kalinowski for their support of the needs of NCP. After many rainy week-ends and weekdays for that matter, Chris had a crew in the play area early on a Sat. morning. They dug out some of the old, packed mulch/dirt and put in the new. It is so wonderful. Jeri made the cooking aprons we have been using for the children. Thank you both!
A Word from Shirley Glines (our 4’s teacher) 738-9512 As we move into the second part of the school year, I have good, warm feelings about what we have been able to accomplish. The children are growing in so many ways. I hope you are taking notice of the changes. As we begin 2003, I would like to thank all of our preschool families for helping to make the first months of school GREAT! On January 7th and 8th we will have every student show and tell. They may bring something special to show their friends. The 4’s will begin some new activities this month. On January 13th the children will begin to sign in when they have placed their bag in their cubby and hung up their coat. They will need to find their name and place it in the “I am here” basket. Also on January 13th we will begin letter box activities. Each week we will focus on a different single sound consonant. We will make the sound, learn to recognize the capital and lower case and we will find things that begin with the letter of the week. Some weeks we will make a poster, some weeks we will bring items from home that begin with our sound. Look for reminder notes in the backpacks. One thing I strive to do is to build self-confidence in the children. The most important thing any of us can do for our children is to make them feel successful. You can help by encouraging your child to do things for himself/herself. Be enthusiastic when you receive projects or artwork. A child’s class project does not need to look like the teacher’s example. A successful project for 3 and 4 year olds is anything they create.
A Word from Karen Peterson (our 3’s teacher) We will be having a colorful month! The kids will enjoy our color unit. Please continue to work with your child at home on their cutting skills. They really enjoy having something to feed to the “color eater”. We will continue with Colors in February, finishing up the unit with colors of pink and red. I would like to thank all the parents for their support this year. I feel we have had a very successful year so far and I believe the cooperative aspect of our school is the reason. Looking ahead to February, we will have a Valentine’s Party on the 13th, and no school on the 18th. Happy New Year. Be prepared for a snowy and cold outside play times.
Our Gratitude goes to: v Utta Plass (Lily 3’s) for organizing T-shirt orders! v Chris Kalinowski (Christopher 3’s) for being our special holiday visitor December 14th at the Holiday Family Party! And for the great play area mulch. v Lisa Pierce (Christine 4AM) and Lisa Savino (Isabella 4AM) for planning and purchasing snacks! v Janet Alonzo (Logan 4PM) for making fund-raising deposits! v Hiram Lodge #25 for the $100.00 donation v The Bitter Family (Justin 4 a.m.) for organizing the Family Holiday Party! v Alison Early & Mike DeCampli (Tyler 3’s) for organizing the Friendly’s Fund-Raiser!
A Special Plea to the Newark Cooperative Preschool Family: As the 2002-2003 school year progresses the Board of Directors is happy to see so many families dedicated to the cooperative aspect of the preschool. We will need Board Members for the upcoming school year.In March when we hold our election for Board Members for the 2003-2004 school year we will need some families willing to move into vacant Board positions. In the past we have depended on the 3’s families to move into leadership positions and to take over running committees. The cooperative aspect of our program is a unique opportunity for all the families to be involved. The success of the program depends on support from ALL the families.
If you are continuing on to the 4’s program or returning with a second child for next school year, please get involved. Marylee Dichiaro or I can describe jobs. Shirley Glines |
