the jobs that were selected in the beginning of the year. If you still do not
have a job please call me ASAP so that we can fill your assignment. Try as I
may, I think I have all but one family assigned to a job, so please give Also remember that tuition is due in by the 1st of each month. If you do not have your tuition in by the 7th of each month you will be charged a late fee. Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, January 16, 2001. Please plan on

Snow days will be announced on WDEL (1150 AM), WNRK (1260 AM) and WSTW (93.7 FM) radio stations. A decision about canceling school will be make as early as possible. A phone tree message will be sent only if NCP is doing something different than the Christina School District. Please keep your most recent class list by the telephone so you can call the next person on the list if you receive a message about school. We will go out in the snow, so dress your child accordingly. If you will be involved in the school next year, please consider taking a Board of Directors position. Call Diane Roberts (366-1148) to discuss positions available. Calendar adjustments: the 3’s will have an Inservice Day on February 20th. Mrs. Glines will be #’s teacher on February 22nd. A word from Shirley Glines (our 4’s teacher) 738-9512 As we move into the second part of the school year, I have good, warm feelings about what we have been able to accomplish. The children a growing in so many ways. I hope you are taking notice of the changes. As we begin 2001, I would like to thank all of our preschool families for helping to make the first months of school GREAT!The 4’s will begin some new activities this month. On January 17th the children will begin to sign in when they have placed their bag in their cubby and hang up their coat. They will need to find their name and place it in the "I am here" basket. On January 22nd we will begin letter box activities. Each week we will focus on a different single sound consonant. We will make the sound, learn to recognize the capital and lower case and we will find things that begin with the letter of the week. Some weeks we will make a poster, some weeks we will bring items from home that begin with our sound. Look for reminder notes in the backpacks. One thing I strive to do is to build self confidence in the children. The most important thing any of us can do for our children is to make them feel successful. You can help by encouraging your child to do things for himself/herself. Be enthusiastic when you receive projects or artwork. A child’s class project does not need to look like the teacher’s example. A successful project for 3 and 4 year olds is anything they create. A word from Joe Cutter (our 3’s teacher) 368-8314Happy New Year! I hope the beginning of 2001 finds your family healthy and ready for new adventures and challenges. After a long vacation from school it is hard to get back into the routine, but, barring snow days, we will try to make January very regular. Speaking of snow, I intend to take full advantage of any snow we have at outside time, so please dress you child accordingly. Mittens are easier for all of us. We will be talking about winter and about our senses in January. Expect a sharing day on January 9th and a Teddy Bear visit January 25th. Many thanks to all of you who helped set up the Holiday Shoppe and our Holiday Parties, and to those who could take time out to attend them with your child. Your children look forward to seeing you on these special days. Special thanks to Beth Kosinski, Mary Dichiaro and Suzanne Cybulski for coordinating the 3’s Holiday Shoppe. As the year goes on, we will focus a bit more on number and letter recognition with the threes. Please remember that some children will be eager to discuss and try writing some letters and numbers, and some children will have no interest at all. Either response is appropriate at this age. I want to provide an environment where children can progress at their own levels. If you have concerns or questions about what we are doing in class, please bring them up with me after class or with a phone call. Thanks again for your holiday presents and cards. My family and I had a great time sharing your gifts.
