If your child has a minor accident at school, first aid will be given and you will be notified so you can watch for latent effects.

If an injury is serious, the school will notify you immediately or the emergency substitute listed on the emergency treatment form.  In the event you cannot be reached, or if the injury is severe, an ambulance will be called to take the child and teacher to the Newark Emergency Room.

A first aid kit is located in the classroom and will be taken on field trips.

The teacher will administer care to the injured child and the helping parents will supervise the other children and if necessary one will make telephone calls at the teacher's direction.

The teacher will file an accident report.  A copy will be given to the President and the parent and one will be on file in the classroom.

The city fire code mandates monthly fire drills. The teacher will give directions to the helpers on fire drill days.  Children will be taken to the exit leading to the steps.  In case of an actual fire, escape via the door may be blocked, therefore escape will be thru the window.
