Remember that you do not automatically get the same job you are currently holding. Jobs are given on a first come, first served basis. SPECIAL THANKS TO:
FUND-RAISER UPDATE Our total sales from Human-I-Tees was $1,826 – we received $75 on donations. The highest sales went to Vansant Sarthi’s (4AM) family. Their sales totaled $535. Thank you so much. We will keep you posted on our total profits when we receive our check from Human-I-Tees. FROM THE PRESIDENT- Diane Roberts 366-1148I would like to Thank all of the families who came out for the meeting on Tuesday March 20th. We were able to nominate the board for the 2001-2002 school year. We still need a Treasurer, if you or anyone you know is interested in this job please give me a call. We also need someone to be the music coordinator for next year. I need to fill that job prior to the end of this school year so that you can be trained in that position. Please consider one of these jobs, it would benefit you as well as your child. Warm weather will soon be here, and boy I can't wait. Just a small reminder to continue to dress your child appropriately for school activities. The children will still go outside to play everyday that they can. Although sandals are cute they are inappropriate for the children, the mulch gets stuck in their little feet and the helping moms are constantly removing mulch and splinters. Thank you for keeping this in mind. Please call me ASAP to get your job assignment for next year. Remember it is first come first serve. If you want a range of jobs to choose from please call me soon. 2001-2002 REGISTRATION UPDATE The 4AM class is full; 8 students are registered in the 4PM class. 3AM has some openings; 3PM has no students. The preschool advertised at the Nursing Mothers Parenting Conference in March. Please continue to tell friends, neighbors and family about our program. Suzanne Mack (Eric 4PM) can provide registration forms; call her at 832-5535.
FROM THE EDUCATONAL DIRECTOR – Shirley Glines 738-9512On Monday March 12th the Nursery Kindergarten Association of Delaware visited the A.M. 4’s in order to complete our accreditation re-evaluation. The visitors were very impressed with the program we offer to the children and their families. They were amazed at the efficient use we make of Helping Parents-special thanks to Mary Downs (Kelsey 4AM, Chris 3AM) and Rita Wells (Cassie 4AM) for their help that day. The boys and girls were happy to have Mr. Cutter in the classroom with them. Thanks to him, I was able to spend an hour and a half with the committee to answer questions. Our accreditation is being renewed. When I receive the written confirmation I will post it for you to see. Their comment was we have a "superb program." The Election Results are in for the 2001-2002 Board:
Have you noticed the two new shelf units in the classroom? A great BIG Thanks goes to David Frances (Hazel 4PM) for donating all the supplies and building the units. Also, Matt Cox (Evan 4PM) "hooked up" the new computer which was donated by Matt’s grandparents. Thank you. On March 20th the Board of Directors met to discuss the use of "copied programs" in the classroom. Many thanks to all who offered to make copies, but we feel strongly we must obey copyright laws. We would be glad to accept donations of programs your children no longer use. As the school year winds down, we need your commitment to being here on time for start up and dismissal. I cannot begin to adequately express my thanks to Rod and Stacie Gerhart (Amanda 3AM) and Carol Bischoff (Derek 4AM) for the many hours they spent organizing our Human-I-Tees Fundraiser. To all of you who so diligently took orders, "Thank You." I know for many of you it was difficult to remain dedicated to fund raising because this is your last year at NCP. Your support will enable the Newark Cooperative Preschool to continue to offer one of the best preschool experiences in the area. Your support also proves that the cooperative aspect of our preschool can accomplish lofty goals because we all work together for the children. If you have had a job that required keeping records (housekeeping, fundraising, hostess, holiday party, snacks, coordinating parent). Please write the directions for doing your job down. Include where you purchased supplies, if you posted a sign-up sheet what is included, how did you contact parents who volunteered to help, etc. Make it detailed so the person taking over the position next school year will know how to do the job. Give the file to Diane Roberts (Steven 3AM) or Shirley. FROM THE 4’s- Shirley Glines 738-9512Happy Spring! This month we will be exploring all the different ways we can tell Spring is here. We will be watching our caterpillars turn into butterflies in our Garden Box. The 4’s have been growing and maturing so much this spring. They are all cooperative in completing one and sometimes two projects. Their self help skills are wonderful, they are able to get their belongings into cubbies, hang up coats, pour water at snack time, put on a smock, write and/or identify their name (some are even beginning to identify friends names), and many are beginning to zip their own jackets. Please help me to build upon this foundation by teaching your child (please do not sing) their full name and address. This should include house number, street name, city, and state. When we discuss community helpers this will supplement our discussions about mail carriers and police officers. FROM THE 3’s- Joe Cutter 368-8314Welcome Spring! Although it has remained cool and windy, we have begun to talk about the changes we see when spring arrives. We will watch caterpillars change into butterflies in the classroom, and we will watch for buds, sprouts, and flowers outside. I would like to offer a few reminders for helping parents. Things have been going really well (THANKS!), but please keep in mind the following:
We will be touring Pathmark on April 5th We will be touring Pathmark on April 5th as a culmination of our food unit. I am working out the details of a visit by insect experts (Anand’s parents, 3AM) for the second week of April. Our Spring Party is the 12th. A late April or early May trip to Frawley Stadium is also in the works—look for details on the bulletin board.
