The Newark Cooperative Preschool (NCP) is a non-profit, parent cooperative for 3 and 4 year old children of all racial, ethnic, religious, and economic backgrounds. Our Mission
ProfileThe Newark Cooperative Preschool was founded in 1968, by a group of parents, and it is still run by concerned parents, hence the name Newark Cooperative Preschool. Classes are taught by degreed teachers. The preschool is staffed by an educational director/teacher (4's) and a teacher (3's). The program has an underlying design, but is not highly structured. The classroom experiences have continuity: the children are presented with an orderly series of stimulating experiences to interest and challenge them. The program allows the children to choose activities, but the teacher offers planned alternatives. Learning centers and creative expression opportunities are used to draw the children's attention and facilitate choice. Development of more academic skills such as learning numbers and letters in preparation for reading are offered if a child is interested, but are never forced. At NCP your child will, through activities of independent and group play, achieve many enriching and enjoyable experiences, as well as opportunities for growth socially, mentally, physically, emotionally, and creatively. Self confidence will mature in our happy, relaxed atmosphere - a "yes" place where he/she can be a child getting to know and like himself/herself. Contact Information
