A word from Shirley Glines (our 4's teacher)

Brrr! It is getting colder. We will continue to play outside. We look forward to some creative learning experiences in our winter world. We love to paint snow outside. Please send your child prepared for going outside. I often hear "Mommy said it would be too cold to go out." It is rarely too cold to go out. Please assume we will be going out. The children need hats/ hoods/ and mittens. These should be placed in their coat sleeve at check in time. Do not leave them in backpacks. It takes too long to retrieve them. Scarves are dangerous when children are climbing so they will be wrapped and tied to eliminate long ends.
In December we will make wrapping paper to use at the Holiday Shoppe. We will create Hanukkah decorations and make gifts for our parents. We will also prepare refreshments for the party.
Thanks to all of our families for your constant enthusiasm, support and understanding during the early part of the school year. You all prove over and over again that cooperative preschools have the most valuable resource, INVOLVED PARENTS.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

A word from Joe Cutter (our 3's teacher)

Hi! I want to start again by thanking the helping parents, both scheduled and unscheduled. Your enthusiasm and support make our time in the classroom very valuable and enjoyable. Thanks!
I would also like to thank all of you who helped with the Halloween parties and assisted with the cooking and serving at our Thanksgiving feasts. All of the extra hands made these special events run smoothly.
As I write this before our November parent meeting, I am looking forward to speaking with many of you at parent conferences. Thanks for taking time to come in and talk about your child's adjustment to preschool and preschoolers.
I look forward to seeing you at the family holiday party on December 11th. It is a nice opportunity to get together with NCP families.
As the holidays approach, I will try to remain low-key with the children. This is not because Christmas and Hanukkah are nor worthy of celebration, but because the children will receive enough stimulation from other sources without preschool creating more. Keep in mind that threes sometimes react to the extra stress in unexpected ways. Help them, and yourselves, by trying to keep to as many routines as are workable.
Happy Holidays!

A note from the President

December is here!! I hope all of the NCP families enjoy a healthy and happy holiday season. Remember to mark your calendars for the NCP Family Holiday Party on Saturday, December 11th and to check you calendars for the Holiday Shoppe and Holiday Party for your child's class.
I want to thank everyone for ordering NCP sweatshirts or t-shorts and for all of the Human-i-tees orders. It has already been a busy fall this year and the Board of Directors thanks everyone for performing their jobs and for all of the additional assistance with snack, housekeeping, and party supplies! A very special thank you, thank you, thank you to the Mack family who are donating a copier to the preschool!!!
The school web site is still under construction, but if you want to check it out, the address is www.members/tripod.com/newarkpreschool. The site name may change and when it does I will put a note in everyone's cubby.
We do not have a Parent Meeting in December so I look forward to seeing everyone in January!
In the meantime, if anyone has any issues/concerns to discuss, please feel free to call (733-0114) or e-mail (matsanda@hotmail.com) me and again, Happy Holidays!!!

A note from the Educational Director

During this season of goodwill, please remember to be kind, respectful and considerate of other NCP families as they go about performing their assigned tasks. Keep in mind each of us has our own particular way of completing a task. If you have a thought about another way to do something, please share it in a positive, suggestive, and non-critical manner. Also, each of you has the opportunity to attend the parent meetings to discuss concerns and help with planning.
One of our objectives with the children is to teach cooperation and respect for others. We are their very best examples. Happy Holidays to all of you and thank you for being part of the NCP family.
Notes:
.December is an exciting month for the children. Our approach to the holidays will be as low key as possible. We will explain Hanukkah and Christmas in terms of what some people believe. We will avoid "Santa" as much as possible of explaining the holidays in terms of caring for each other and showing love.
When helping in the classroom, allow the children to do as much as possible for themselves. The 4's should be placing their bags in their cubbies, hats and gloves in their coat sleeves than hanging up their coats.
During the month of December please be aware that your child needs to stay in a familiar routine. Keep bed-time consistent; limit sweets, encourage good habits with lots of fruits and veggies. Outside exercise is important too!
We need the clear plastic rings from soda six-packs
If you use the preschool camera, be sure to close the shutter and turn off the flash to save the batteries.
The step stools in the bathroom should be kept on the carpet squares to prevent scratching the floor.
A great holiday gift idea is to buy your children Fiskars brand safety scissors. Let them cut cut cut. They are available at K-Mart, Joanne's Fabrics and A.C. Moore.

Budget Planning

Committee chairs (snacks, housekeeping) The Board of Directors request your projected budget needs for the 2000-2001 school year for our planning purposes. Please turn in your budget request by December 14th to Patti Ann Mooney (Re'Ann 3's a.m.) or Shirley Glines. The Board will be meeting in early January to plan the budget/tuition for next year.

Health update

At the time this is being typed, Michelle Romeo our health coordinator (Kayla 4's a.m.) is still trying to get all of the helping parents to turn in their TB test results. Please do this immediately. If you are pregnant r Nursing please call Michelle.

Holiday Shoppe Info

Even though we haven't seen snow, it is time to start thinking about the annual preschool Holiday Shoppe. The holiday shoppe will take place on December 9th for the 3's classes and December 8th for the 4's class. Gifts for the shop should be brought to school by December 2nd for the 3's class and December 3rd for the 4's class. The dollar store is a great place to find inexpensive gifts. Gifts should be placed in a paper bag and the bag labeled with the shoppers name. On shopping day, we need two or three extra helping parents to assist in shopping and wrapping. Be sure to send in .50 cents for each gift your child is buying. Children may shop for a maximum of 8 people and pets. For many children this will be their first opportunity to independently choose a gift for their loved ones, making this a season for giving. Class coordinators are Leslie Laser 3's a.m. and Suzanne Cybulski for 3's p.m. and 4's a.m.

Curriculum/Theme

December - Hanukkah, Preparation of the Holiday songs and presentation, Holiday baking, making gifts and shopping as ways of showing love.

Help!

Calling all Auditors or CPA's: NCP is preparing for our certification. As part of this certification, an audit of our books must be completed. If an NCP family/friend can volunteer, we would be greatly appreciative.
